Schools have established DRRM policies and programs supporting national, regional, and division directions aligned with RA 9155: Basic Education Governance Act of 2001. To support specific interventions in addressing the effects of hazards and risks determined at the school level. Below is a guide that lists down the criteria needed in securing a conducive and safe learning environment for both teachers and students:
Key Indicators that educational facilities are conducive to the physical well-being of students
- The school is accessible and inclusive to all children, regardless of gender, age, socio-economic status, and disability.
- The learning environment has clear and visible boundaries and signages.
- School grounds have safe and secured spaces for classes and administration, recreation, and sanitation facilities.
- Class space and seating arrangements are according to the prescribed ratio of space per student and teacher to facilitate learner-centered approaches at all grade levels.
- Communities participate in the construction and maintenance of the school.
- Active promotion of health and hygiene programs
- Adequate and inclusive sanitation facilities are provided
- Adequate quantities of water for safe drinking and personal hygiene are available.
