Gender equality is a fundamental human right and a necessary foundation for a sustainable, peaceful, and prosperous world. In the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, gender equality and the empowerment of woman and girls is a stand-alone goal (Sustainable Development Goal 5 – SDG 5) and is inextricably linked to SDG 4 on ensuring the right to inclusive and equitable quality education and lifelong learning.
