The commemoration of the International Day of Education (January 24) provides an opportune moment to reflect on the state of the Philippine Education System, the context and present challenges that need to be confronted, and its future trajectory. It is crucial for the Philippines to address these challenges and continue working towards an inclusive, equitable and quality education system.

E-Net Philippines, as a member of the EDCOM 2 – Second Congressional Commission on Education, representing Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), shares the EDCOM II Year One Report “MISEDUCATION – The Failed System of Philippine Education” which can serve as a valuable resource, shedding light on the challenges and recommendations that can guide the direction of educational reforms in the country.

The involvement and collaborative efforts of various stakeholders, including the government, educators, parents, CSOs and the private sector, is vital for the creation of an education system that empowers every Filipino learner. On this International Day of Education, let us collectively commit to addressing the current challenges, advocate for progressive reforms and work together for a more resilient and inclusive education system towards lifelong learning and national development.
